Blogger’s challenge #72 The Same but different

November 7th, 2008 by Connie

Thank you Lisa for the wonderful challenge.  Feast you eyes on the creations of the other Blogger’s Challenge players here.

Please note on my sidebar, a place where you can click onto my Demonstrator Website.
On the top bar is button “Shop Now” which isvery easy to scan through the catalogue this way and place your order.   Yes, Stampin Up has online shopping..horrah!!!

Important Note:

I would also like to add, for anyone who orders from my website; upon request, can receive creative coaching from me via online or by phone. Any kind of support or help you need, just ask.  I  have a special telephone package and do not have to pay for long distance in North America.  One of the perks of living in Saskatchewan.

Also, anyone interested that is living within the Weyburn, Saskatchewan vicinity, feel free to ask me about classes.  I have a three spaces left for my November classes.

I had so much fun, trying my new sets from Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini.
A Christmas Cardinal was shouting to me for this challenge and to even add more dimension, I used the wheel that compliments the set Scandinavian Season.
It wheels like buddah and this set will mezmorize you also..Be careful!!

“Dear Mrs. Stampin Up…,  it would be wonderful to have some Designer Paper  made from the set "Scandinavian Season” very funky and creative stamps.   Wonder if she will  hear me!!

I incorporated many of the “ New In Colors” for my cards and falling in love with how they compliment almost any color.

The majority of my stamping was done with Stampin Up’s craft ink and embossing with clear embossing powder. Lots of sponging and Distressing to achieve multi tones.

Templates used were Stampin Up’s Bigz Dies that are utilized on the Sizzix Big Shot machine, now available through Stampin Up.  The Top Note Bigz die and Scallop Circle large, can be found at the back of Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini catalogue.

I am realizing the full potential of this machine and very happy I made this expenditure.
Cutting tools are the window to creativity; and, I find I always use my die cuts, no matter how old they are. I have dusted of all of my old dies from various companies and rediscovering them all over again. Yes, you can use all dies on the Big Shot machine.   What I am most excited about, is how the BIGZ dies, cut chipboard with ease. I love embellishing and painting chipboard.
Happy Stamping everyone and get those Christmas cards going.

But for the “Grace” of Angels — Sympathy Cards

November 2nd, 2008 by Connie

Innovative Stamp Creations and Stone House Stamps

Just a quick note on a new addition to my blog.  See the tabs at the top of my blog; I added, Photography, another one of my passions..I will be uploading more pictures from time to time.

I am working on designing some sympathy cards; and unfortunately there always seems to be an occassion to give cards to family. ( Not the best scan of these cards and far more beautiful in IRL.)

I stamped the Flower and Angel on Stampin Up Cardstock Vellum, embossing in Black Pigment Ink made by Ranger and using clear embossing powder.   I love this technique of coloring on the backside with Stampin Up markers and Blender Pens;

The Angel is from a company called Stone House Stamps (Vintage Angels)  feast your eyes on the beautiful work in the gallery.

The Flourish Flower and Crackle background are from Innovative Stamp Creations, the sheets are called:   Fancy Design and About Me.

Take a browse of Elaine Seip’s photo bucket store " Integrity Designs"  she carries these stamps. Visit her Blog Here.

The Die Cut frame and corners are from Spellbinders and Provo Craft … wonderful accents for cards.

A Card for a Princess

June 21st, 2008 by Connie

The card shown, is one I made was for my little buddy Chloe.  It was a very special celebration for her and she was more beautiful than the image on her card.  Now I must add, that Chloe is one of my most enthusiastic pupils..Every day and I mean everyday ,she asks, "when are we going to Scrapbook."  An up and coming artist she will be; and I can envision her as a collector like the rest of us..lol  What are we creating.

I used a Cuttlebug folder, Floral Fantasy for the background; and, brayered Versa Mark over the embossed raised embossed image, very carefully with a light touch.   Next, I added Irridescent Highlights embossing powder and heat set.

I was  at a loss for an image for the perfect stamp.. I realized I did not posess any princess stamps..no..

The image of the princess is from the wrapping paper I used for her gift.  It was a perfect fit,  as little girls are so passionate for sparkle, glitter and princesses.   Dollar store alpha’s, and bling were so fitting for this card, lending a nice personal touch.

Cardstock and the punch used for the corners are from Stampin Up.  I cut the oval templates with Creative Memories cutting tools.  If I were to do this style of card again, I would pull the oval matting into the centre more and raise the photo corner level with the embossed matt.  Funny how things pop out url and you see your mistakes more clearly.

Blog Challenge 51

Petal Sweetness

Here is my card for this week’s Blogger’s challenge. Check out the link to see some amazing work.

I am so running behind and really wanted to do a different card. I can see I need to play more with how to arrange the Petals.   Our challenge ,was to use the colors Pink, Turquoise and Green Galore.   The Petals and word Sweet are stamps from Technique Tuesday.  The flourishes are stamps from  Fancy Pants.  On the pink background, I subdued the brightness using white craft ink and  Stampin Up’s Dotted wheel.  The curvey shape backgrounds were cut using Creative Memories templates.

The Petals are embossed with white embossing powder on Cardstock Vellum.  The word "Sweet’ is embossed with Turquoise Craft and clear EP also on Cardstock Vellum.   I colored on the backside to pop out the image  with Markers and Blender Pens.

Boys will be Boys

May 27th, 2008 by Connie

Cute and Mischievous

Hello to fellow scrappers from sunny Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Yes, life if good, the wind has stopped blowing and it finally rained. A farmer’s wife is glowing.

This layout is of two special boys; our son and grandson. I wanted to capture the essence of their mischievous nature using tight head shots. The scan of this image does no justice to this layout. I really had trouble with white balance.

The background is Brocade Blue Cardstock from Stampin Up. The inside frame is double-sided patterned paper from KALEIDOSCOPE. To design my inside frame, I first cut PP in half and flipped to the opposite sides I was going show. I gently tacked them down on my matt to trace the template.

The plastic templates were made by EK Success, “Nouveau”, Make-a-Matt, from the creators of Border Buddy and Plan-a-Page. I am very glad I have kept all of these templates and can revive them into trendy scrapbooking styles.  There are many precut frames available in the market. I can save a few pennies cutting my own.

I outlined the edge of the frame with EK Success Broad tip Black marker. The white highlighting and dots were done using Stampin Up’s White Signo pen. I distressed the edges of word frames, stars and blue CS with Tim Holtz, Distress Ink: Black Soot. Tim Holtz distress ink lends a nice soft look when you want to soften the edges of your work.

Thanks for looking and if you like what you see, sign up on the left hand side in the subscriber box. More to come
