New Beginnings - Happy New Year

January 4th, 2009 by Connie

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all busy stampers and scrapbookers.. I had a wonderful Xmas this year, surrounded by friends and family.  Dear Mr. weather was not so kind to so many of us across the country.

Here are a couple samples of a Christmas card and some Wedding Invitations I did a while back.  The stamps are from Stampin Up -  Baroque Motifs and Holy Triptych.

I have been busy working on Scrapbook layouts and photography and yes constructing  another blog.  I may be MIA for another week..it’s the new year and change is approaching.  I hope, very soon, to share with you all the new innovative and creative challenges I have been working on.

Every Day Life - Photography

I enjoy creating word art/journaling on photographs.. A picture of my "oh so cute" grandson.  This photo really depicts his personality.

I took this picture with a 50D MM Nikon Lense.  I really love the soft look and depth of field you can achieve with this lense.

Thankyou for visiting my blog…stay tuned for specials and the New Stampin Up Spring/Summer 2009 catalogue.

Blogger’s challenge #74 Colors: Baja Breeze, Chocolate chip, Very Vanilla or White

November 14th, 2008 by Connie

Lisa came up with another awesome color challenge prompting us to use one of the new " In Colors"  Baja Breeze.

Take a tour on over to the Blogger’s challenge list here and see more wonderful work.

I decided to do something with less stamping and more paper pieceing.  A wonderful excuse to use my " Big Shot" machine.

I rarely case an idea from the catty, but could not resist this sample on page #27 of Stampin Up’s Holiday mini catalogue.

I used  the large Circle Scallop and Bird with Leaves and Flower Bigz dies.  All of these dies can be viewed in the Holiday mini; or, on my Stampin Up Website, under the category of  Dies, then click on BigZ dies.  You can also click on the " Shop Now" link on my sidebar.

Colors for this card:  are Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turqoise, Very Vanilla.  Patterned paper is from " Patterns Designer Series Papers - Baja Breeze.  I stamped the Turquoise background using white craft ink and a wonderful little set called "Boho Backgrounds".

Blogger’s challenge #72 The Same but different

November 7th, 2008 by Connie

Thank you Lisa for the wonderful challenge.  Feast you eyes on the creations of the other Blogger’s Challenge players here.

Please note on my sidebar, a place where you can click onto my Demonstrator Website.
On the top bar is button “Shop Now” which isvery easy to scan through the catalogue this way and place your order.   Yes, Stampin Up has online shopping..horrah!!!

Important Note:

I would also like to add, for anyone who orders from my website; upon request, can receive creative coaching from me via online or by phone. Any kind of support or help you need, just ask.  I  have a special telephone package and do not have to pay for long distance in North America.  One of the perks of living in Saskatchewan.

Also, anyone interested that is living within the Weyburn, Saskatchewan vicinity, feel free to ask me about classes.  I have a three spaces left for my November classes.

I had so much fun, trying my new sets from Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini.
A Christmas Cardinal was shouting to me for this challenge and to even add more dimension, I used the wheel that compliments the set Scandinavian Season.
It wheels like buddah and this set will mezmorize you also..Be careful!!

“Dear Mrs. Stampin Up…,  it would be wonderful to have some Designer Paper  made from the set "Scandinavian Season” very funky and creative stamps.   Wonder if she will  hear me!!

I incorporated many of the “ New In Colors” for my cards and falling in love with how they compliment almost any color.

The majority of my stamping was done with Stampin Up’s craft ink and embossing with clear embossing powder. Lots of sponging and Distressing to achieve multi tones.

Templates used were Stampin Up’s Bigz Dies that are utilized on the Sizzix Big Shot machine, now available through Stampin Up.  The Top Note Bigz die and Scallop Circle large, can be found at the back of Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini catalogue.

I am realizing the full potential of this machine and very happy I made this expenditure.
Cutting tools are the window to creativity; and, I find I always use my die cuts, no matter how old they are. I have dusted of all of my old dies from various companies and rediscovering them all over again. Yes, you can use all dies on the Big Shot machine.   What I am most excited about, is how the BIGZ dies, cut chipboard with ease. I love embellishing and painting chipboard.
Happy Stamping everyone and get those Christmas cards going.

But for the “Grace” of Angels — Sympathy Cards

November 2nd, 2008 by Connie

Innovative Stamp Creations and Stone House Stamps

Just a quick note on a new addition to my blog.  See the tabs at the top of my blog; I added, Photography, another one of my passions..I will be uploading more pictures from time to time.

I am working on designing some sympathy cards; and unfortunately there always seems to be an occassion to give cards to family. ( Not the best scan of these cards and far more beautiful in IRL.)

I stamped the Flower and Angel on Stampin Up Cardstock Vellum, embossing in Black Pigment Ink made by Ranger and using clear embossing powder.   I love this technique of coloring on the backside with Stampin Up markers and Blender Pens;

The Angel is from a company called Stone House Stamps (Vintage Angels)  feast your eyes on the beautiful work in the gallery.

The Flourish Flower and Crackle background are from Innovative Stamp Creations, the sheets are called:   Fancy Design and About Me.

Take a browse of Elaine Seip’s photo bucket store " Integrity Designs"  she carries these stamps. Visit her Blog Here.

The Die Cut frame and corners are from Spellbinders and Provo Craft … wonderful accents for cards.

My First Digital Layout…National Digital Scrapbooking Day

November 1st, 2008 by Connie

Jessica Sprague Onlie digital Course

Yes it has been a while since I posted and I wanted to share with you on National Digital Scrapbooking Day, my first digital creation.

With the help of Jessica Sprague, I was able to breeze through my first layout without any frustration.

You rock !!…Jessica; and, thank you for the wonderful tutorials.  click here to see her fabulous classes.

What I love about digital scrapbooking, is it gives me more room for creativity.  I do love scrapbooking with real paper and pictures, but sometimes I love to play and not haul out the entire room.   I do find that I glean more ideas and ready for more challenges.

Bloggers Challenge #62 Baby’s Grace

September 1st, 2008 by Connie

Baptising Baby

See my Stampin Up Website to view all the new products and specials.

Another feature of the week,  my friend, Sheryl Cote was featured in Page Maps Card Sketches. Click here and be sure to scroll down the page to see her beautiful card.  Sheryl has a blog also, pay her a visit here.

I’m Late, I’m Late for a very important date

I know I am late… I missed “Blogger’s Challenge” this Friday. The theme was Patriotic and or Baby. I  Decided to put my card on anyway.

Forgive my wonky image..I am learning digital.

The technique I focused on, is called “Warhol”.  I remember learning this cool art form  in school and was excited to revisit this technique in one of Pat Huntoon’s tutorials.
My inspiration came from Lisa Somerville, who used this same stamp with the Warhol technique.

The three pieces with the image are stamped with Basic Black, allowed to dry and brayered evenly with a rubber brayer with color of choice.  My brayer is my best friend.

For the bottom half of the card I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I brayered ever-so-lightly with a rubber brayer and versa-mark ink. Applied Hologram Highlights Embossing powder, heat set; and voila a nice piece with glitter, glitz and elegance.
If memory serves me correctly, I believe this technique can be found in the many resources available at Split Coast Stampers.

Cardstock Stampin UP: Glossy, Barely Banana, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate
Ink – Stampin Up: Basic Black, Versa Mark, (Mint Melody, Mauve Mist,
Blue Bliss) these three are retired inks.

Accessories’: Rhinestone from Stampin Up, Ribbon- 1/8 inch satin by Offray, Flowers were from an assortment by Prima.

Stamps Stampin Up:  Buggies and Booties which is now a retired set.

The pinkish swirls are from Nestabilities..ooohhh they are fun to use to accent a card. See Elaines photo bucket with all her new products.

Sincere Thoughts

August 9th, 2008 by Connie

Close as a Memory

Check out my new Stampin Up Website at:   www.conniepaxman.stampinup.net

I now have a Stampin Up Website, please click on the link to view all promotions and what’s coming this summer.  Feel free to call me, if you have any last minute orders before the Fall Winter catalogue retires or if you would like a new catty.

To be launched later this month:

An exciting "First Time Ever"  Promotion on new stamp sets.   Also to be revealed, new products for home decor; and, you will be able to purchase through Stampin Up the new "Big Shot" die cut machine along with templates, dies and a carry bag…New  "In Colors "  and much more.  Check my calender, on my Stampin Up website, towards the end of August if you are interested in seeing new products or taking my classes.

My latest Card:

Sympathy cards are not always the occasion that one desires to be creating for, but a reality of life.   This card was done using a technique from Pat Stamps Technique Junkie newsletter called  Alcohol Ink Float.  I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and Stampin Up’s fabulous 140lb water color paper. I went on a bender and made about 50 backgrounds..a very addicting technique.

Stamp Sets are  Stampin UpClose as a Memory, Pretty Petals and Boho Backgrounds.

Inks: Tim Holtz Alochol Inks, AND  Stampin Up Craft Inks:  Wisper White, Elegant Eggplant and Almost  Amythest.

Embellishments:   Prima Flowers, Bazzill Brads and Stampin Up’s Word- Window punch.   The images are stamped in Craft Ink and embossed in clear Embossing Powder.

Cardstock:  Stampin Up:  Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant and Watercolor paper.  I softened some of the colors with White craft ink on the Certainly Celery Cardstock  using a stamp from Boho Backgrounds. A technique I love to use if I find the Cardstock is too bold.

Thanks for Stopping by, hope all of you are having a great Summer

Hugs

Connie
