Blogger’s challenge #74 Colors: Baja Breeze, Chocolate chip, Very Vanilla or White

November 14th, 2008 by Connie

Lisa came up with another awesome color challenge prompting us to use one of the new " In Colors"  Baja Breeze.

Take a tour on over to the Blogger’s challenge list here and see more wonderful work.

I decided to do something with less stamping and more paper pieceing.  A wonderful excuse to use my " Big Shot" machine.

I rarely case an idea from the catty, but could not resist this sample on page #27 of Stampin Up’s Holiday mini catalogue.

I used  the large Circle Scallop and Bird with Leaves and Flower Bigz dies.  All of these dies can be viewed in the Holiday mini; or, on my Stampin Up Website, under the category of  Dies, then click on BigZ dies.  You can also click on the " Shop Now" link on my sidebar.

Colors for this card:  are Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turqoise, Very Vanilla.  Patterned paper is from " Patterns Designer Series Papers - Baja Breeze.  I stamped the Turquoise background using white craft ink and a wonderful little set called "Boho Backgrounds".

Blogger’s challenge #72 The Same but different

November 7th, 2008 by Connie

Thank you Lisa for the wonderful challenge.  Feast you eyes on the creations of the other Blogger’s Challenge players here.

Please note on my sidebar, a place where you can click onto my Demonstrator Website.
On the top bar is button “Shop Now” which isvery easy to scan through the catalogue this way and place your order.   Yes, Stampin Up has online shopping..horrah!!!

Important Note:

I would also like to add, for anyone who orders from my website; upon request, can receive creative coaching from me via online or by phone. Any kind of support or help you need, just ask.  I  have a special telephone package and do not have to pay for long distance in North America.  One of the perks of living in Saskatchewan.

Also, anyone interested that is living within the Weyburn, Saskatchewan vicinity, feel free to ask me about classes.  I have a three spaces left for my November classes.

I had so much fun, trying my new sets from Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini.
A Christmas Cardinal was shouting to me for this challenge and to even add more dimension, I used the wheel that compliments the set Scandinavian Season.
It wheels like buddah and this set will mezmorize you also..Be careful!!

“Dear Mrs. Stampin Up…,  it would be wonderful to have some Designer Paper  made from the set "Scandinavian Season” very funky and creative stamps.   Wonder if she will  hear me!!

I incorporated many of the “ New In Colors” for my cards and falling in love with how they compliment almost any color.

The majority of my stamping was done with Stampin Up’s craft ink and embossing with clear embossing powder. Lots of sponging and Distressing to achieve multi tones.

Templates used were Stampin Up’s Bigz Dies that are utilized on the Sizzix Big Shot machine, now available through Stampin Up.  The Top Note Bigz die and Scallop Circle large, can be found at the back of Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini catalogue.

I am realizing the full potential of this machine and very happy I made this expenditure.
Cutting tools are the window to creativity; and, I find I always use my die cuts, no matter how old they are. I have dusted of all of my old dies from various companies and rediscovering them all over again. Yes, you can use all dies on the Big Shot machine.   What I am most excited about, is how the BIGZ dies, cut chipboard with ease. I love embellishing and painting chipboard.
Happy Stamping everyone and get those Christmas cards going.

Inks and Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point,

Other Inks: Old Olive, Goovey Guava, Basic Black and Black Craft for the embossing.

Bloggers Challenge #62 Baby’s Grace

September 1st, 2008 by Connie

Baptising Baby

See my Stampin Up Website to view all the new products and specials.

Another feature of the week,  my friend, Sheryl Cote was featured in Page Maps Card Sketches. Click here and be sure to scroll down the page to see her beautiful card.  Sheryl has a blog also, pay her a visit here.

I’m Late, I’m Late for a very important date

I know I am late… I missed “Blogger’s Challenge” this Friday. The theme was Patriotic and or Baby. I  Decided to put my card on anyway.

Forgive my wonky image..I am learning digital.

The technique I focused on, is called “Warhol”.  I remember learning this cool art form  in school and was excited to revisit this technique in one of Pat Huntoon’s tutorials.
My inspiration came from Lisa Somerville, who used this same stamp with the Warhol technique.

The three pieces with the image are stamped with Basic Black, allowed to dry and brayered evenly with a rubber brayer with color of choice.  My brayer is my best friend.

For the bottom half of the card I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I brayered ever-so-lightly with a rubber brayer and versa-mark ink. Applied Hologram Highlights Embossing powder, heat set; and voila a nice piece with glitter, glitz and elegance.
If memory serves me correctly, I believe this technique can be found in the many resources available at Split Coast Stampers.

Cardstock Stampin UP: Glossy, Barely Banana, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate
Ink – Stampin Up: Basic Black, Versa Mark, (Mint Melody, Mauve Mist,
Blue Bliss) these three are retired inks.

Accessories’: Rhinestone from Stampin Up, Ribbon- 1/8 inch satin by Offray, Flowers were from an assortment by Prima.

Stamps Stampin Up:  Buggies and Booties which is now a retired set.

Blogger’s Challenge #60 “Birthday Theme”

August 15th, 2008 by Connie

Woman Around the World

Be sure to check this week’s BirthdayTheme on Blogger’s Challenge list HERE.  Some awesome talent to be viewed.

Stamps, are from Innovative Stamp Creations - Woman Around the World and Scrapbook Words.  The images at the bottom of the card are from Stampin Up.  I used a background implementing the Alcohol Ink Float technique from Pat Stamps Technique Junkie newsletter.  The inks used are Ranger’s Alcohol Inks..Love those inks.

The pinkish swirls are from Nestabilities..ooohhh they are fun to use to accent a card. See Elaines photo bucket with all her new products.

Blogger’s Challenge “Resist” Technique #52

June 27th, 2008 by Connie

Another Blogger’s Challenge Card.  This challenge involved any "Resist Technique".  Emboss Resist is one of my favorites.  The background was done using Luna Lights paints, it was a little bright and conflicting with the flowers, so I brayered over top with Stampin Up Going Grey Ink. The flowers were embossed with White Embossing powder.

The Verse is a stamp from Stampin Up Occasions Mini, and the flowers are "Big and Wild Things" from Gelatins. The scan does not show the card justice in real life.

Bloggers Challenge #52

June 20th, 2008 by Connie

Manly Themed Card

Here is a card for my Weekly Bloggers Challenge Group.  Click here to see many beautiful creations by other Bloggers.

This stamp is from Paper Bag Studios , I love the saying on this image. It says "Success is not a destination that you ever reach,  success is the quality of your journey.  I made this card for my husbands birthday.

Cardstock used is from Stampin Up.  I had fun with the backgrounds,  simply distressing using different Techniques.  I was soooooo… excited to use my new Distress Inks from Tim Holtz..  See Tim’s blog for ideas using these cool inks.  The "Cut and Dry Knibbs were an awesome tool to colorize the image on the glossy cardstock.  Whoaa….I do need more practice though.

Blog Challenge 51

June 14th, 2008 by Connie

Petal Sweetness

Here is my card for this week’s Blogger’s challenge. Check out the link to see some amazing work.

I am so running behind and really wanted to do a different card. I can see I need to play more with how to arrange the Petals.   Our challenge ,was to use the colors Pink, Turquoise and Green Galore.   The Petals and word Sweet are stamps from Technique Tuesday.  The flourishes are stamps from  Fancy Pants.  On the pink background, I subdued the brightness using white craft ink and  Stampin Up’s Dotted wheel.  The curvey shape backgrounds were cut using Creative Memories templates.

The Petals are embossed with white embossing powder on Cardstock Vellum.  The word "Sweet’ is embossed with Turquoise Craft and clear EP also on Cardstock Vellum.   I colored on the backside to pop out the image  with Markers and Blender Pens.

Bloggers Challenge #50

June 6th, 2008 by Connie

I joined a new group this week called "Blogger’s Challenge".  For week #50, the challenge was to create a card using  black and white colors only.   Yes, this was a challenge for me, having Scotopic vision,  black and white are my difficult colors.

The stamps are from Innovative Stamp Creations, called "Lovely Hearts".  I embossed the black background with white embossing powder.  The top layer background, is a crumpled piece of black glossy cardstock.  I made this discovery, through one of my temper tantrums.  Have you ever had one of those when you are stamping?  After crumbling the piece because the images did not stamp clearly.   I salvaged it from the garbage can, because the effect was different.  I saved this piece for a rainy day.

For anyone who lives in Canada, Elaine Seip of Integrity designs carries Innovative Stamps.

Hopefully, next week, I will have the Blogger’s Challenge logo on my sidebar, along with the links to the challenge players.   Still learning this blogging business.  There should be a group for "Challenged Bloggers"… I would be the first to sign up.
